White Mountain Musical Art is
pleased to announce
that this season’s Festival Chorus
will once again, be prepared by Jesse Wakemen.
Jesse has participated in
the Festival in the past
both as a soloist and member of the Chorus and
beginning last year, as the Chorus Director.
The Festival Chorus will participate during the Bach Festival in
#142 (Uns ist ein Kind geboren)
and #190 (Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied)
holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University
of Southern Maine, and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in
choral conducting, under the tutelage of Dr. Robert Russell. Jesse
is one of the artistic directors for the Boy Singers of Maine and
directs the Concert Choir, the premier treble ensemble for the group.
His collegiate studies have given him experience in all forms of music,
from opera to jazz, and have also fostered his love for composition.
For the past several years he has joyfully served as the choir director
for the North Yarmouth Congregational Church and has maintained a
small private voice studio catering to young singers who are passionate
about the vocal art.
Jesse is an active performer, lending his talents to a variety of
concert work and operatic roles, both at USM and various other professional
organizations and events, including PORTopera, St. Mary’s Schola
and the White Mountain Musical Arts Annual Bach Festival (2013). His
efforts have won him several awards and honors such as the 100th Annual
Lillian Nordica Memorial Scholarship and the Bay Chamber Concerts
Young Stars Prize for Vocal Excellence.
Chorus Rehearsal Schedule
The Bach Festival Chorus will be prepared
again this year by Jesse
Wakeman. Jesse has established the following schedule for rehearsals:
dates are Monday and will go from 6:30 to 8:30 at First Church of
Christ, Congregation, our concert location, in North Conway
June 13 - meet, greet, sing-thru
July 11, 18, and 25
August 1, 8 ,15, 22
Music Director Robert Lehmann will work with the Festival Chorus on
the last Monday before the Festival Weekend, Monday August 22.
Dress rehearsals with the instrumental ensembles the weekend
of the Festival
will take place on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th
and are mandatory.

Rehearsals held at at First Church of Christ, Congregational,
2521 White Mountain Highway (Route 16/302), North Conway, NH
(across from Peach's Restaurant!)
We expect that all participants will attend all rehearsals, or notify
the Chorus Manager of any absence in advance. We also expect that
all participants will commit to practicing the music outside of
Rehearsals are not a time for learning notes! The rehearsal on Aug.
22nd with Robert Lehmann, the two dress rehearsals, and participation
in both concerts are mandatory.
WMMA encourages all interested singers who meet the above-mentioned
criteria to plan to attend ~ and invite your friends who are interested
singers as well. Tell Others: perhaps you know of someone that you
think might want to participate in our festival.

Mountain Musical Arts ~
is the name of the group, begun in 2001 as a 501
( c ) (3) organization to formally carry on the vision
and dream of Dr. Clarence Sndyer, Organist Emeritus at
Christ Church Episcopal, located in North Conway, when
in 1989 he founded the Mt. Washington Valley’s first
set of concerts dedicated to the music of J. S. Bach in
an effort to fulfill “a vision of a major cultural
event in New Hampshire’s North Country: an annual
The expanded mission of the WMMA is to:
“Exclusively bring public musical performances,
primarily live performances of art music to the greater
Mt. Washington Valley; and to provide opportunities
for education in music through lectures & lecture-recitals
WMMA currently presents both the annual Bach Festival
during 4th weekend of August, and a Chamber Music Concert
Series with a varied schedule throughout the year.
