White Mountain Musical Art is pleased to announce
that this season’s Festival Chorus
will once again, be prepared by Jesse Wakemen.

Jesse has participated in the Festival in the past
both as a soloist and member of the Chorus and
beginning last year, as the Chorus Director.
The Festival Chorus will participate during the Bach Festival in
Cantata #142 (Uns ist ein Kind geboren)
and #190 (Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied)

About Jesse:

Jesse holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Southern Maine, and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in choral conducting, under the tutelage of Dr. Robert Russell. Jesse is one of the artistic directors for the Boy Singers of Maine and directs the Concert Choir, the premier treble ensemble for the group. His collegiate studies have given him experience in all forms of music, from opera to jazz, and have also fostered his love for composition. For the past several years he has joyfully served as the choir director for the North Yarmouth Congregational Church and has maintained a small private voice studio catering to young singers who are passionate about the vocal art.

Jesse is an active performer, lending his talents to a variety of concert work and operatic roles, both at USM and various other professional organizations and events, including PORTopera, St. Mary’s Schola and the White Mountain Musical Arts Annual Bach Festival (2013). His efforts have won him several awards and honors such as the 100th Annual Lillian Nordica Memorial Scholarship and the Bay Chamber Concerts Young Stars Prize for Vocal Excellence.

We expect that all participants will attend all rehearsals, or notify the Chorus Manager of any absence in advance. We also expect that all participants will commit to practicing the music outside of rehearsals.

Rehearsals are not a time for learning notes! The rehearsal on Aug. 22nd with Robert Lehmann, the two dress rehearsals, and participation in both concerts are mandatory.

WMMA encourages all interested singers who meet the above-mentioned criteria to plan to attend ~ and invite your friends who are interested singers as well. Tell Others: perhaps you know of someone that you think might want to participate in our festival.

What is WMMA?

White Mountain Musical Arts ~

is the name of the group, begun in 2001 as a 501 ( c ) (3) organization to formally carry on the vision and dream of Dr. Clarence Sndyer, Organist Emeritus at Christ Church Episcopal, located in North Conway, when in 1989 he founded the Mt. Washington Valley’s first set of concerts dedicated to the music of J. S. Bach in an effort to fulfill “a vision of a major cultural event in New Hampshire’s North Country: an annual Bach Festival.”

The expanded mission of the WMMA is to:
“Exclusively bring public musical performances, primarily live performances of art music to the greater Mt. Washington Valley; and to provide opportunities for education in music through lectures & lecture-recitals / concerts.”

WMMA currently presents both the annual Bach Festival during 4th weekend of August, and a Chamber Music Concert Series with a varied schedule throughout the year.
